Winona-Ryder
Winona Laura Horowitz, professionally referred to by the name Winona Ryder was born in Winona Minnesota. Her parents named her Winona in honor of the town she grew up in. Her father Michel Horowitz and her mother Cynthia Palmer were authors and editors. Ryder's dad was born into an ethnically Jewish family. Ryder considers her self Jewish. She has a younger brother Uria as well as two half siblings Jubal as well as Sunyata. Ryder as well as her entire family relocated to California's Mendocino County in the year 2000, when Ryder was seven. The family was in a house that didn't have electric power. There was no television books were Ryder's only distraction to spend the time and she began to read extensively. When she turned 12 Ryder was accepted into the American Conservatory Theatre to take acting classes. At the age of 15, Ryder landed her first acting job on the screen in Lucas. Ryder was bullied at her high school. She thought that by becoming an actor her behaviour was going to be corrected. Sadly that didn't happen. However, she was determined to pursue her dreams. Her breakthrough was in 1988 when she appeared in Tim Burton's Beetlejuice. Ryder was a star in various films. In 1993, she was awarded an Academy Award to be awarded for The Age of Innocence.
